Devorah Sperber: Flash BackExhibition Dates: Saturday, August 02 - Sunday, September 07, 2008 Devorah Speber: Flash Back features selected works based on iconic images from the 1960s. The exhibition will include Sperber’s signature “Thread Spool” installations and works comprised of chenille stems (pipe cleaners), flower-shaped stickers, map tacks, and colored faceted beads. For Sperber, the individual works, and the exhibition in general, serve to support the idea that ‘reality’ is merely an illusion created by the brain in collaboration with the human eye. In particular, she is interested in how consciousness and the act of seeing create the illusion of a stable, predictable, singular world.
