Summer Cottage Residencies

The primary criterion for acceptance to Byrdcliffe’s artist residency program is artistic excellence or demonstrated commitment to one’s field of endeavor. Artists in multiple disciplines are welcome to apply including writing, visual arts, weaving, ceramics, composers, darkroom photo, digital photo, film makers, playwrights, and more.

About the program

Summer cottage residencies offer artists live/work space within the larger creative community of the Byrdcliffe Arts Colony amidst the serene natural setting of Woodstock, New York.

While summer cottage residencies allow for more concentrated time and are more autonomous by nature, artists-in-residence are invited to participate in a variety of program offerings at Byrdcliffe. This includes all AiR monthly communal program offerings such as practice shares, excursions, gatherings, guest speakers, and Open Studio events.

All artists-in-residents also have the opportunity to participate in an exhibition at the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild’s Kleinert/James Center for the Arts during the year following their residency.
